Important Changes Ahead
The Fine Arts Center staff and board have spent the last several months reviewing expenses in anticipation of a tight budget this coming year. After much consideration, it has become clear that Paint the Peninsula is too costly for us to host this year and therefore, we made the hard decision to postpone our 2019 plein air competition.
We recognize that this represents a big program change, and we want to assure you that the Fine Arts Center remains on solid footing and will continue to offer robust programming throughout the year. Our beloved network of plein air artists have all been invited to enter our Small Works juried exhibition in mid-August (entries will open March 1.) Artists selected for this exhibition will have the opportunity to participate in artist home-stays, public art demonstrations, and a VIP reception at the Fine Arts Center.
We are optimistic that, with careful planning and fundraising, we will be able to host Paint the Peninsula in the future. In the meantime, we’re eager to share all the new exhibitions, special events, and educational opportunities coming up this year at the Fine Arts Center. Our full program calendar will be available in late February.
