Workshop with Yong Hong Zhong, Oregon Artist
Watercolor
August 19, 2017
This is a one day watercolor painting workshop with emphasis on how to identify and simplify composition and review the importance of color and value relationships. The morning session will be a discussion on the fundamentals of painting and an in-studio demo (working from provided photos). The afternoon session will reinforce the concepts discussed in the morning with an outdoor demo en plein air (weather permitting). Students will have an opportunity to paint on location and I will be working with students individually throughout both sessions.

“2016 was Yong's first year painting with Paint the Peninsula. His oil painting of Rialto Beach captured the Superintendent's Award for Olympic National Park. A multitalented artist, Yong paints both in oils and watercolors. His watercolor images disappeared from the wall so quickly we hardly saw them. Yong studied at New York's Pratt Institute and worked for several years in the animation industry for MTV and Disney Studios. Yong is an energetic and engaging presenter. Join him for an educational and enjoyable day.” - Anne Dalton, Chair, Paint the Peninsula
